Our topic this week is Force connection , which basically means , forcing two items to connect and form a certain item that is suppose to be multifunctional.
Multifunctionality , is also an innovative way to invent something needed , might not exactly match , but as people adapted , and live with certain items , they just adapted and feel like the item is meant to be in that way .
One of the multifunctional items is Swiss army knife . Not only does it have a knife , but it also have tweezers and other stuff kept inside . it was a force connection between a pocket knife and several other stuff at once .
Another innovative thing is a spork
its basically a spoon and a fork fused together to create a utensil .
This week , we were assigned to do a review on Two Videos , and A show called Shark tank .
I really like Shark Tank as it resembles this other movie shows that are also about investors choosing on products they want to invest on .
My favorite product is ScrubDaddy . which is a force connection between a scrub and a sponge . The design is cute , and the videos shows that it scrubs really well .
It is a normal scrub+sponge product , but the fact that it cleans so well in the videos amazes me .
The TED talk video proved that our creativity is being affected by the way we went through daily life and how society indirectly affects our creativity by creating rules. The Talker in this video wanted to change how the society works in order to create a better , more creative human as the view of society and how society stereotype and judge things can result to a really monotonous way of thinking , therefore creating a stuck-up way of thinking . Its really wonderful how our brain could react to things differently than the way they did before just by simply changing the procedure we carry throughout each different day , like how doing one good deed could change your mood throughout the day , or maybe the thought of jealousy that occupy one's mind could easily ruin the mood for the whole day .
The " Health week " mentioned in the talk is one of the way some institution tried to cope with people not being creative and just a way of relaxing , but truthfully , just like what the talker said , instead of being a " health" week , it is better of called as " sickness " week , as the speech and activities listed on the event doesn't only discusses negative effects , one of the events are actually situated on Friday night .
The other video about Human brains and Insight shows and teach me that there are very many different ways to utilize your brain and train it to be creative . By continuing to solve problems but not restraining our brain , we can train our brain to be creative . There are also several experiments shown in the video , as in the one where people becoming more creative when they explore new things , or the other experiment about which people can easily figure out different ways to use bricks .
I find the fact amusing that if someone has less white-part ( of the brain ) , they tend to be more creative . The facts about brain that the experiments and analysis show really helps me to understand how our brain works better in terms of being creative . My favorite part was discovering why people tend to look over somewhere else or might sometimes close their eyes when they are being asked a tricky question or are just deep in thoughts , as staring at the other person's face would be too distracting . Turns out our back part ( the part of the brain that has something to do with our ability to visualize things ) are in charge of that process . The back part of the brain then sends the information to our left and right part of the brain ( in which the right part tends to be more dominant when it comes to getting insights) , and the right part of the brain will release this gamma ray that triggers the insight .
Overall , this session has been informative and i am really happy to know how our brain works .
Thank you for reading .
